Programme Summary

Accounting and Finance has been named the language of business and it’s graduates are among the most employable in the world. You will complete a well-rounded degree, built on a strong foundation of business and interpersonal skills.

This Bachelor of Arts programme is designed to equip students with an in depth understanding in all areas of accounting and finance; including financial accounting, assurance, taxation, corporate finance and financial management.

The broad foundation and unique combination of skills prepare students for a wide array of careers in accounting and finance positions, including with the ‘Big Four’ accountancy firms, public listed companies, multinational corporations and government agencies.

Graduates will be able to operate independently in a business environment, in addition to providing and analysing reports and financial statements. Students who plan to pursue a long-term career in accounting are advised to obtain a professional qualification after graduation.

Entry requirements

Academic Requirement

Applicants must be 18 on registration and hold a GCSE in Mathematics, Grade C or equivalent, and one of the following (or international equivalents):

• 2 A Levels (A-E, 80 UCAS points) 
• GSM London’s Foundation Year programme
• Equivalent qualifications (subject to Plymouth University approval) including: BTEC National Certificate/Diploma, Advanced Level Diploma, HNC/D, Access to HE, IB

English Language Requirement

  • If English is not the applicant’s first language, IELTS minimum score 6.0 or another accepted system, is required.

You can take our Internal English Test completely free of charge to find out your level of English. If you do not have the required level of English for entry, our Academic English Courses can help you to achieve this level.

Mature students (21+) with evidence of full-time work experience, supported by an employer reference, are considered on individual merits. Candidates who do not meet the requirements can apply for our Foundation Year.

Fees & Funding

Tuition fees cover the cost of a student’s academic studies. This usually includes teaching costs, registration and examination fees (not repeat or tailing modules, re-sit fees or coursework resubmission). Any costs associated with work placements will be students responsibility.
