Dr Isa Stephen Sule is an accomplished lecturer and Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) with a strong background in designing modules, teaching, assessing, and conducting research in the field of Management. With over 4 years of experience in academia, Stephen has made significant contributions to the field. Additionally, Stephen possesses more than 14 years of practical experience in the banking industry, entrepreneurship, and education management. Currently, Stephen holds the position of module leader for Strategic Management in Global Context at The Business School, Edinburgh Napier University in Scotland. In this role, Stephen not only oversees the strategic management module but also manages the MBA Capstone Project and various postgraduate and undergraduate modules.
Prior to joining Edinburgh Napier University, Stephen worked as a lecturer at the University of Wales in partnership with UNICAF. Stephen has also taught and served as a thesis supervisor at Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University in Scotland. In these positions, Stephen was responsible for designing and teaching courses, assessing student performance, supervising thesis, and managing executive modules that focused on equipping organizations to anticipate, prepare for, respond to, and adapt to incremental changes and sudden disruptions in order to remain viable. Before embarking on an academic career, Stephen gained valuable industry experience in the banking sector. Stephen held managerial positions in prominent banks such as Guaranty Trust Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Diamond Bank plc, Eco Bank (formerly Oceanic Bank), and United Bank for Africa plc.
During this time, Stephen played a pivotal role in overseeing the growth of Oil and Gas Project accounts, as well as Multilateral, Bilateral, and Non- Governmental Organization Project accounts. Additionally, Stephen demonstrated expertise in Commercial and Private Banking Portfolio management. Stephen’s contribution to the growth of risk assets and liability generation for the banks resulted in off-cycle promotions. In addition to his academic and industry experience, Stephen provides board advisory services to organizations such as SISA Management Consulting Limited (Scotland), and Seaforth Management Limited (Nigeria). Stephen focuses on helping private and public entities solve complex scenarios, adding value and ensuring business viability. Stephen’s educational background is extensive, holding a PhD in Management, a Post Graduate Certificate in Research Methods, and an MSc in Management from Robert Gordon University in Scotland.
Stephen also earned a BSc (Hons) in Management Science (Second Upper Division) and a Diploma in Business Administration and Computer Applications. Furthermore, Stephen possesses certifications in Entrepreneurship Management, Innovative Skills and Business Analysis from the UK, as well as Credit Skills Assessment and Prince2 Certification (Managing Projects in a Controlled Environment). Stephen has also received training in Recruitment & Selection from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), UK. Stephen’s professional affiliations include being an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AHEA), an Affiliate Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ACIPS) UK, an Affiliate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (AMIOSH), a member of the Chartered Institute of Management (UK), a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (UK), a member of the Energy Institute (UK), and a member of the Association for Project Management (UK). Stephen’s core teaching engagements encompass a wide range of topics, including but not limited to Strategic Management, Leading Strategic Decision- making, Leadership, Strategy and Innovation, Change and Resilience Management, Strategic Leadership, Strategic Operations Management, Project Management, Operations Management, Business Management, and Behavioral Economics.
