Course Details

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) offers two test formats – Academic and General Training – to assess your English abilities in four areas: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. You can take the test on paper, computer, or online (availability depends on location) at an official test centre.

Academic Reading

IELTS testing locations are conveniently located close to our campus. Our experienced staff will assist you in scheduling the exam and will offer advice on the ideal time to take it, enabling you to make significant progress rapidly. Get a predicted IELTS score and guidance on achieving your IELTS objectives by taking practice examinations with your teacher each week. Create a tailored course for yourself so that you can have extra lessons focusing on the areas where you need the most practice, like writing or speaking. It’s a great city, London, with lots of opportunities to practise your English.

We recommend students are at least pre-intermediate (B1) level before taking the IELTS course. However, if your level is lower than this you can take General English lessons with us to quickly increase your English level to a level suitable to prepare for IELTS.

Students who need to pass the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam to receive a globally acknowledged English qualification are enrolled in the IELTS preparation course. The goal of the course is to increase your competency in writing, speaking, listening, and reading. To help you succeed in exams, you will receive individualised comments and guidance from your teacher regularly, along with practice exams that include complete mock papers.

IELTS is a powerful qualification that can open doors to study and work. IELTS is accepted by over 12,000 organisations in more than 140 countries.

This includes:

  • Government departments and immigration authorities
  • Universities, schools, colleges and training organisations
  • Multinational companies and employers
  • Professional and industry associations

Please contact the specific organisation[s] you are applying to to confirm that they accept IELTS and to verify the type of test they require you to take, i.e. IELTS Academic or IELTS General Training. 

The IELTS test consists of four sections: Listening (30 minutes), Reading (60 minutes), Writing (60 minutes), and Speaking (11-14 minutes). The total duration of the test is 2 hours and 45 minutes. The first three sections—Listening, Reading, and Writing—are taken consecutively on the same day without any breaks. The Speaking test may be scheduled on the same day, seven days before, or up to two days after the other sections, depending on local arrangements.

For IELTS Online, the Speaking test is usually conducted before the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections, which may be on the same day or a different day.

You will receive your results 13 days after the test date if you took IELTS on paper, 3-5 days if you took IELTS on computer, and 6-8 days if you took IELTS Online.

For IELTS for UK Visas and Immigration, results are available 13 days after the test if taken on paper, and 3-5 days if taken on computer. Some test centres also offer SMS alerts and an Online Results Service.
